'I regret involving myself in Ghana football' - Nations FC owner Dr. Kwame Kyei

Nations FC owner, Dr. Kwame Kyei, expressed regret about joining Ghana football. His feelings stemmed from a recent match against Basake Holy Stars.

The game at Crossby Awuah Memorial Park ended abruptly. Nations FC walked off the pitch while trailing 1-0. They cited poor officiating as the main reason for their decision.

Reports indicate that Nations FC felt cheated throughout the match. Their frustration peaked when Basake Holy Stars received a second penalty just before halftime.

In their statement, Nations FC mentioned inadequate security and safety concerns. They hope the Ghana FA will investigate these issues thoroughly. There are rumors they may consider boycotting the league if changes aren't made.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Dr. Kyei shared his disappointment with officiating during the match in Anyinase. He also mentioned being assaulted by some home fans.

He reflected on past incidents, noting we haven't learned from the Nsoatre tragedy earlier this year. This incident led to the death of Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Pooley.

“I regret getting involved in Ghana football,” he said honestly. “I wasn’t happy with what happened during the match.” He hopes for improvements in the sport.

Dr. Kyei emphasized that lessons from Nsoatre have not been learned yet. He believes it was good for him to attend the game but criticized national progress on safety issues.

Meanwhile, Basake Holy Stars entered this match as league leaders. They needed only four points from two remaining matches to secure the title.

As of now, there has been no decision from the GFA regarding a replay or awarding points to Holy Stars due to Nations FC's walk-off.
