The Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, announced the Legal Education Bill. This bill aims to end the Ghana School of Law's monopoly on legal training.
On Joy News’ PM Express, he called this reform necessary. He wants to “democratise legal education” and fix a “corrupted” system.
Dafeamekpor has been advocating for this change since 2018. He noted that law school admissions became contentious and corrupt. Evidence showed some students were admitted without taking entrance exams.
He cited findings from the General Legal Council’s disciplinary committee. At least 11 students were allegedly smuggled into the law school.
“My information is that they were over 33,” he said. “But to minimise the impact, they said
