A total of 1,184 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates participated in the ‘Yes We Can’ Pep Talk Tour. This event took place at Young Christian School in Takoradi. It is the alma mater of Nana Kwesi Coomson, the initiative’s convener.
The tour ran from May 26 to May 30, 2025. It aimed to motivate final-year Junior High School students. The focus was on career inspiration and confidence-building for their first external exams.
During the final session, Coomson shared his personal experience. He recalled feeling frightened before his own BECE exam years ago. After overcoming that fear, he promised to help others facing similar anxiety. He stated, “Yes We Can” is his way of keeping that promise.
The sessions featured a dynamic group of speakers. They shared personal stories and academic tips with the students. Notable speakers included Yaa Amoako Adu, Charlotte Derban, and Anthony Botwe.
Other speakers were Haruna Babangida, Manfred Darko Konadu, Nana Ama Divine, and Jeffrey Adu-Mante. The initiative was organized by 233times.net in partnership with Spice FM. It remains one of the most impactful pre-BECE support programs in the region.
In addition to motivational talks, female students received free sanitary pads from Virtuous Boardroom. Mr. Kwame Adu-Mante also donated mathematical sets to all candidates.
