2024/25 GPL: Mawuli Wayo secures maximum points for Hearts at Berekum Chelsea

Mawuli Wayo had a great game for Hearts of Oak on Sunday. He scored the winning goal against Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.

The crucial goal came in the second half. Wayo seized a loose ball, headed it past Zakaria Fuseini, and then scored against goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere.

With this win, Hearts have beaten Chelsea every time since Samuel Boadu became their coach. In their first match on May 8, 2024, Hearts won 3-0 at Berekum. Hamza Issah, Kassim Cisse, and Linda Mtange scored that day.

Despite the victory on Sunday, Hearts are still in 5th place with 49 points. They trail rivals Asante Kotoko by five points; Kotoko is currently in 4th place.

Berekum Chelsea sits at 10th place with only four points. They are seven points above the relegation zone and appear safe from dropping out.

Hearts will play their next league match at home against Accra Lions. Meanwhile, Chelsea will travel to face Dreams F.C in the capital.
