2024/25 GPL: Mawuli Wayo secures maximum points for Hearts at Berekum Chelsea

Mawuli Wayo had a standout performance for Hearts of Oak on Sunday. He scored the match-winning goal against Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League.

The crucial goal came in the second half. Wayo seized a loose ball, headed it past Zakaria Fuseini, and then scored against goalkeeper Gregory Obeng Sekyere.

With this victory, Hearts of Oak have won every league game against Samuel Boadu. Boadu is the former coach of Hearts and now coaches Chelsea.

In their first meeting, Hearts defeated Chelsea 3-0 on May 8, 2024. Hamza Issah, Kassim Cisse, and Linda Mtange scored that day.

Just before Christmas 2024, Hearts won again with a score of 3-1. Yussif Ramzy, Kwabena Bioateng, and Hamza Issah were the scorers.

Despite Sunday’s win, Hearts remain in fifth place with 49 points. They are five points behind rivals Asante Kotoko, who are fourth.

Berekum Chelsea sits in tenth place with four points. They are seven points above the relegation zone and appear safe from dropping down.

Hearts will play their next league match at home against Accra Lions. Meanwhile, Chelsea will travel to face Dreams F.C in the capital.
