2024/25 Ghana Premier League: Week 33 Match Report – Asante Kotoko 3-2 Medeama

Asante Kotoko kept their Ghana Premier League title hopes alive. They won 3-2 against Medeama SC at Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday. This victory narrowed the gap at the top to just two points. There is one round of fixtures remaining.

Albert Amoah stepped up in Kwame Opoku's absence. Opoku is on international duty with Ghana in London. Amoah scored a superb hat-trick, guiding Kotoko to a vital win at home.

Medeama made an early impact when Kingsley Braye scored in the 5th minute. This goal silenced the Kumasi crowd. However, Kotoko responded strongly. Amoah leveled the score with a penalty in the 23rd minute. He then scored again in the 41st minute, giving Kotoko a 2-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Medeama fought back. Manuel Mantey’s strike in the 67th minute tied the game again. But Amoah was not finished yet. He sealed the win with a composed finish in the 78th minute, completing his hat-trick.

Kotoko now sits two points behind league leaders Nations FC. They will face Vision FC on the final day of the season. Medeama has dropped out of the top four and will finish their season against Berekum Chelsea at home in Tarkwa.
