Ghana Celebrates Win Over D.R. Congo at 2025 Under-20 AFCON
Ghana’s Black Satellites finished the group phase of the 2025 CAF Under-20 AFCON on top of Group C. They ended the campaign unbeaten in three games.
In their final match, Ghana defeated Central African Republic (C.A.R.) 1-0. Joseph Opoku scored the winning goal with a solo run in the 84th minute. Senegal also won, beating D.R. Congo 2-0.
Ghana had previously beaten Senegal 1-0 and drawn 1-1 with D.R. Congo. This gave them a total of seven points in the group stage. They secured a spot in the quarterfinals due to their head-to-head advantage over Senegal.
During the group phase, Ghana conceded only one goal and scored three times. Their goal difference was +2 after three matches.
A win in the quarterfinals will qualify Ghana for the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
The Ghana Football Association celebrated their success on social media, stating: "Job done! Top of the table and into the last eight."
