World number one Aryna Sabalenka is closer to her first French Open title. She defeated four-time champion Iga Swiatek in the semi-final. The match ended with a score of 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-0. This victory ended Swiatek's impressive 26-match winning streak at the tournament.
Swiatek started slowly but fought back to level the match. However, Sabalenka dominated the final set, which lasted 24 minutes. Sabalenka has won three Grand Slam titles, all on hard surfaces. She has never reached the final in Paris before.
“It feels incredible but the job is not done yet,” said Sabalenka. “I’m thrilled with my performance.” She praised Swiatek as a tough opponent, especially at Roland Garros.
Sabalenka will face American second seed Coco Gauff in Saturday’s final. Gauff recently defeated Lois Boisson and acknowledged her talent. “Lois is an incredible player,” she said.
Gauff expressed excitement about future matches against Boisson. “I know you wanted her to win, but I wanted to win too,” she added.
