Ghana’s U-20 national team, the Black Satellites, will face a tough test at the upcoming CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after being drawn into Group C alongside Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Central African Republic.
The draw, held on Sunday, April 13, in Cairo, Egypt, comes ahead of the tournament scheduled to run from April 27 to May 18, 2025.
Originally set to take place in Côte d'Ivoire, the competition was relocated to Egypt following Côte d'Ivoire’s withdrawal.
Head coach Desmond Ofei and his squad have intensified preparations, including a training tour in Morocco. The team has since resumed training in Accra and is expected to play a number of friendly matches before departing for Egypt.
The Black Satellites are set for a challenging opener, especially with continental giants like Senegal in their group. A successful group stage campaign could set up a potential knockout clash with top teams such as host nation Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, or Zambia.
