Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named five debutants for the Unity Cup in London.
The debutants include one goalkeeper, Joseph Tetteh Anang. They also include one defender, Aaron Essel. Two midfielders, Caleb Yirenkyi and Abdul Aziz Issah, are part of the squad. Lastly, forward Mohammed Gaddafi Fuseini joins the team.
Anang has been outstanding for St. Patrick's Athletic in Northern Ireland. He kept seven clean sheets in 18 games this season.
Essel played for the Black Satellites at the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He featured in all matches as the team missed World Cup qualification.
Yirenkyi plays for FC Nordsjaelland and had a strong season. He broke into the first team during the second half of the season. He scored twice and provided two assists in 17 league appearances.
Aziz Issah has had limited playing time with Barcelona Athletic this season. He joined on loan from Dreams FC and also played at U-20 AFCON like Essel.
Fuseini won the league title with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise this season. They defeated Gent in their final match on Sunday afternoon.
These five players aim to impress the technical team for future call-ups. Ghana will face Nigeria on May 28 in their first tournament game. One of these teams will play in either the third-place playoff or final on May 31.
Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica are also participating in the tournament.
