Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is frustrated with his team's first-half performance.
In their 2025 Unity Cup opener against Nigeria, defensive errors led to two goals. Brandon Thomas-Asante scored one goal, but it was too late.
Addo commented on the match at the post-game conference. He said, “We were not in it during the first half.”
He added that the goals conceded were too easy. The defense was not compact enough and failed to stop crosses. He noted that they also slipped in midfield, which should not happen.
“Nigeria was more aggressive,” he said. They won many duels and created chances while Ghana struggled.
In the second half, Ghana improved significantly. They forced Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali into two crucial saves from Thomas Asante and Abu Francis.
Now, Ghana will compete for third place against Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, May 31. Meanwhile, Nigeria will face Jamaica in the final of this four-nation competition.
