2025 Unity Cup: Ghana lacked aggression against 'matured' Nigerian team- Otto Addo

Ghana's Head Coach Otto Addo highlighted key issues in his team's performance.

He noted a lack of aggression and cohesion in the first half. This contributed to their 2-1 loss to Nigeria in the Unity Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Black Stars started slowly and conceded twice before halftime. Despite a strong second-half effort, they could not complete a comeback.

Addo said, “The biggest negative was our lack of aggression and connection.” He also mentioned that Nigeria had a more mature team. They adapted faster while Ghana struggled with duels, pressing, and defense.

After making several changes at halftime, Addo praised his team's response. Brandon Thomas-Asante scored one goal, showing promise alongside Caleb Yirenkyi.

“The biggest positive was the second-half performance,” he stated. “Despite the loss, we saw real talent.” He added that some players impressed him and he looks forward to seeing them again.

Ghana will face Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday. Otto Addo plans to continue testing younger players in this match.
