2025 Unity Cup: Young-sensation Abdul Aziz Issah gets debut Black Stars invite

Young sensation Abdul Aziz Issah has received his first call-up to the Black Stars. This is ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup tournament in the United Kingdom.

Aziz joins fellow debutants Aaron Essel and Joseph Tetteh Annang. Essel is also from the Black Satellites, while Annang plays for West Ham United.

The 19-year-old joined Barça Atlétic on loan last summer. The agreement includes a purchase option for FC Barcelona at season's end. However, that clause could not be triggered.

Aziz started well at FC Barcelona. He was invited to train with the first team by Hansi Flick. He made cameo appearances in two matches against Real Sociedad B and Nastic.

Since then, he has struggled for playing time. At times, he was not included in the matchday squad due to coaching decisions.

His strong performance at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations caught coach Otto Addo's attention. As a result, he has been included in the Black Stars squad for their next assignment.

Ghana will start their Unity Cup campaign against Nigeria on Tuesday, May 28. This match will take place at Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford. The semifinal winner will advance to the final on May 31. The loser will play in a third-place playoff earlier that same day.

The Black Stars are set to open camp on Sunday, May 25, in Accra before traveling. This tournament is part of Ghana's preparation for upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Mali in September.
