2025 World Athletics Relays: Ghana finish third in Heat to miss out on qualification

Team Ghana finished third in its heat. This result means they missed qualifying for the finals of the 2025 World Athletics Relays. The event is taking place in Guangzhou, China. They also missed out on the World Championships in Tokyo this September.

Ghana's team included Fuseini Ibrahim, Barnabas Agerh, Sean Sarfo Antwi, and Mustapha Bokpin. They completed the race with a time of 38.49 seconds.

In previous competitions, Ghana struggled with baton changes. They had dropped the baton and faced penalties for lane infractions. However, this time they completed the race but did not secure one of two automatic qualification spots.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland won their heat with a time of 38.18 seconds. This performance allowed them to automatically progress to the final. Poland finished second with a season-best time of 38.43 seconds.

Jamaica did not finish their race due to a baton change error. South Africa won Heat 2 with a time of 37.84 seconds, qualifying for both the final and the World Championship.
