Kofi Kinaata Wins Fifth Songwriter of the Year Award
Kofi Kinaata has won his fifth Songwriter of the Year award. He received this honor at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA). His winning song is ‘Saman’ from his debut album, ‘Kofi oo Kofi.’
The ‘Susuka’ hitmaker has excelled in this category multiple times. This showcases his talent as a Ghanaian musician and songwriter.
In 2016, Kofi won his first award for ‘Susuka.’ This song also earned him the Best New Artiste of the Year award. It marked his breakthrough in the Ghanaian music industry.
He won again in 2017 for his song ‘Confession.’ This solidified his reputation for relatable and thought-provoking lyrics. In 2020, his hit “Things Fall Apart” earned him the award for a third time.
Kinaata made history by being the first artist to achieve this feat at the TGMAs. He won his fourth award in 2021 with ‘Behind The Scenes.’ This set a record as the first artist to win four times.
He continued to dominate this category in 2025. His wins cemented his position as one of Ghana’s finest songwriters.
