“2010 World Cup is still in our brains and we want to recreate that” – Kamaldeen Sulemana

Ghanaian forward Kamaldeen Sulemana plays for Southampton. He says the Black Stars squad is eager to create good memories for Ghanaians.

The national team has faced heavy criticism recently. Disappointment peaked when they failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

However, there was a positive turn during the recent international break. Ghana secured back-to-back wins over Chad and Madagascar in World Cup qualifying.

Sulemana emphasized that football is everything in Ghana. "We eat and drink football," he said in an interview with Showmax. He added that the team always wants to fight for their country.

He believes the squad is motivated to restore national pride. They aim to rekindle the spirit of 2010, a high point for Ghanaian football.

"We remember players like Essien and Asamoah Gyan," he noted. "We want to recreate that success."

Ghana will continue its World Cup qualifying campaign in September. They will face Chad away on September 1, followed by a home match against Mali on September 8.
