A Ghanaian should have been appointed Black Stars technical adviser, if one is capable – Kofi Adams

Minister-designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has questioned the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to appoint German coach Winfried Schäfer as the Black Stars’ technical adviser.

Adams believes a qualified Ghanaian should have been given the role. The GFA recently named the 75-year-old Schäfer as Director of Football and Technical Adviser to head coach Otto Addo, sparking concerns about redundancy given the presence of an existing Technical Director.

Adams hinted at a possible review to ensure cost-effectiveness, suggesting a reassessment of the Black Stars' technical team.

Schäfer’s appointment is part of a broader restructuring, but Adams’ comments indicate a potential shake-up in Ghana’s football leadership once he officially assumes office.
