AC Milan announce Massimiliano Allegri as new head coach

AC Milan has confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri is the new head coach. He returns 11 years after his previous tenure.

Allegri takes over from Sergio Conceicao. Conceicao joined on December 30 but lasted only a few months.

Allegri has won six Scudetto titles: one with Milan and five with Juventus. He also has three Supercoppa Italiani, winning one with Milan and two with Juventus. Additionally, he holds the record for Coppa Italia wins, totaling five with Juventus.

Milan has been searching for a manager to lead them into a new era. Sporting director Igli Tare is part of this effort. A long list of candidates was considered, but Allegri emerged as the top choice earlier this week.

Discussions intensified between Allegri and Milan's management. He was convinced to join despite rumors of a verbal agreement with Napoli if Antonio Conte left.

Allegri returns to Milan after being sacked 11 years ago. In his first stint, he coached 178 games, achieving 91 wins, 49 draws, and 38 losses. He scored 303 goals while conceding 178. During that time, he won one Scudetto (2010-11) and one Supercoppa Italiana (2011).

He joins a Milan team needing revival after a disappointing season. The club lacks European football and aims to launch a new project. To signify this new era, they wanted an experienced coach like Allegri—one who is both successful and strong-willed.
