APC President pays courtesy call on Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana strengthening diplomatic ties to advance para sports in Africa

On Friday, May 2, 2025, Mr. Samson Deen visited His Excellency Ifedayo Adeoye. Mr. Deen is the President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC). The meeting took place at the Nigerian High Commission in Accra, Ghana.

They discussed important initiatives to promote para sports in Africa. Key topics included upcoming AfPC programs such as:

- The first West African Para Games in Nigeria.
- The AfPC General Assembly.
- The Open Para Championship in Accra, scheduled for November 2025.

Mr. Deen requested the High Commissioner’s help for a second meeting. This meeting would involve the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The goal is to update her on pending AfPC programs and seek her support. In 2023, Senator Tinubu became the Grand Patron of the African Paralympic Games and Para Sports. This role involves leading efforts for disability sports and social inclusion across Africa.

High Commissioner Adeoye welcomed the AfPC delegation warmly. He expressed his strong support for the values of the Paralympic Movement. He praised Mr. Deen’s leadership and confirmed his backing for AfPC initiatives.

The High Commissioner noted that the First Lady is committed to causes benefiting women and marginalized groups. He assured that she would be willing to meet with the African delegation.
