Accra Sports Stadium to host Ghana vs. Chad 2026 World Cup qualifier in March

Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Chad on March 17, 2025, will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking its return as the country’s primary venue for international matches.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided not to submit alternative stadiums for CAF inspection following the rejection of other key venues, including the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and Cape Coast Stadium.

The Accra Sports Stadium’s resurgence follows extensive renovations, including pitch restoration by the National Sports Authority (NSA) in collaboration with Green Grass Technology. These improvements helped secure CAF’s conditional approval.

This shift comes after years of the Baba Yara Stadium serving as Ghana’s preferred home ground, but its rejection in 2024 due to "technical infractions, including an unsuitable playing field," led to the venue change.
