The Adabraka Zongo community won the 10th annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup. They defeated defending champions Ashaiman in the final.
This was Adabraka's third appearance in the tournament. They eliminated three former champions: Mamobi, Kasoa, and Ashaiman. These teams have won six of the nine previous editions.
Adabraka began their journey by beating Shukura 3-1 on penalties. The match ended 0-0 in regular time, allowing them to advance to the quarter-finals.
In the quarter-finals, they stunned Mamobi with a 1-0 victory. Then they faced Kasoa and won again, this time 3-1 on penalties after another goalless draw. This set up a final against Ashaiman.
Ashaiman entered as defending champions and had a bye in the preliminary stage. In their first match of the second round, they beat Tunga 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
In the semi-finals, Ashaiman defeated Nsawam Zongo 3-1 on penalties after a goalless match. They aimed for their fourth title in an exciting final attended by dignitaries like Minister of Sports Kofi Adams.
The final ended in a 0-0 draw and went to penalties. Ashaiman nearly retained their trophy but missed their last penalty kick. This gave Adabraka a chance to win.
Adabraka took advantage of this opportunity and scored their penalties calmly. They joined the elite group of past winners named after Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
The Minister for Sports presented the trophy and medals to Adabraka's team. The awards were donated by Black Stars players Mohammed Kudus and Kamaldeen Suleiman.
Ernest Nuamah also donated jerseys used by both teams during the final. Tamimu Issah, founder of the tournament, thanked all stakeholders for their support in making it successful.
