Abdul Karim Zito recently became the head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club. He took over after Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum was fired. Zito acknowledged that adapting to his coaching style will take time.
Kotoko won their first match under Zito, defeating Aduana Stars 1-0 at Baba Yara Stadium. Before this win, Kotoko had not won in four games.
Zito previously led Dreams FC to the CFA Confederations Cup semifinals last season. He believes his new team needs time to adjust to his system.
“Adaptation takes time; it’s not easy,” Zito said after the game. “The players are used to the previous coach’s system.” He aims to keep things simple as he learns about his players.
Kotoko's next match is against their rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, on May 4 in Accra.
