Afcon 2025Q: Jordan Ayew to captain Ghana for Angola and Niger games

Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew has been appointed as the captain of the Black Stars of Ghana for the upcoming AFCON 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

This announcement was made by Ghana's coach Otto Addo during a press conference held on Thursday.

Addo indicated that the decision to appoint Ayew as captain could be a long-term strategy.

He explained that the initial plan was to have Thomas as the captain to lead the team, but with his absence, he consulted Mohammed Kudus and ultimately decided to name Ayew as the new captain in Thomas' stead.
