Afena-Gyan, Opoku, Samed among six returning to Black Stars for Unity Cup

Felix Afena-Gyan, Abdul Samed Salis, and Kwame Opoku are back with the Black Stars. They are part of coach Otto Addo’s squad for the Unity Cup in London.

Afena-Gyan returns to the national team for the first time since 2022. Salis Samed is also back after an injury kept him out for much of the season.

Kwame Opoku has impressed at Asante Kotoko. He scored 10 goals in 18 matches since returning from USM Alger. This will be his first game for Ghana since a World Cup qualifier in 2021.

Stephan Ambrosius joins the squad as well. He plays for St. Gallen in Switzerland and debuted for Ghana in September 2023.

Ghana will face Nigeria on Wednesday, May 28, at GTech Community Stadium in West London. The winner will reach the final of the Unity Cup against either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago.
