Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has reflected on the emotional toll the Black Stars faced after losing the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final to Ivory Coast.
Despite a rocky start to the tournament, Ghana bounced back to reach the final, where a goalless draw led to a penalty shootout.
Ghana initially led 2-0, but missed penalties from Afriyie Acquah, Frank Acheampong, and goalkeeper Razak Brimah allowed Ivory Coast to come back and win 9-8.
Agyemang-Badu admitted the team was devastated by the loss, expressing disbelief at the defeat.
Since then, the Black Stars have struggled, failing to reach another AFCON final and not qualifying for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
