Ajax interested in Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey

Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has become a transfer target for Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam, with the January transfer window closing soon.

The Brighton and Hove Albion wing-back, whose current contract has six months remaining, could negotiate with any club before the summer transfer window opens.

Although Lamptey has been performing well this season, he has not been a regular starter under manager Fabian Hurzeler, prompting him to consider his options.

Reports from England suggest that Ajax is preparing a £1.5 million offer for the 24-year-old Ghana international.

Lamptey played the full match on Saturday as Brighton suffered a heavy 7-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, where he was deployed as a left-back.

He has made 10 Premier League appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
