Former Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor has expressed confidence that Ghana will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ahead of their crucial qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, Akonnor believes the team has learned from their AFCON disappointment and is ready to correct past mistakes.
He praised the players’ maturity and professionalism, stating they are highly motivated to secure victory in the upcoming matches.
Akonnor is confident that Ghana has a stronger chance of winning the games than drawing or losing, especially with the added motivation of securing a World Cup spot after missing the 2025 AFCON.
He also noted that playing Madagascar in Morocco benefits Ghana, as the opposition will lack home support. The Black Stars will face Chad on March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium and then travel to Morocco to play Madagascar on March 24.
