Amankona, Afriyie, and two other Berekum Chelsea players charged for misconduct in FA Cup semi-final

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has charged four Berekum Chelsea players. This follows their FA Cup semi-final match against Asante Kotoko at Tarkwa TNA Stadium.

The players are Mizack Afriyie, Stephen Amankona, Zakaria Fuseini, and Seidu Mohammed. They are accused of breaching Article 12(1)(i) of the GFA Disciplinary Code. They also violated Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.

According to the GFA, the charges relate to post-match behavior. The players allegedly approached referees aggressively after the game. They reportedly used inappropriate gestures that constitute misconduct.

This incident occurred after Berekum Chelsea lost 1–0 to Asante Kotoko. The match was crucial as both teams aimed for a spot in the MTN FA Cup final.

The players have until Thursday, May 15, 2025, to respond to these charges. If found guilty, they may face fines or suspensions. Such consequences could affect Chelsea’s preparations for upcoming domestic matches.

The FA Cup final will feature Asante Kotoko against Golden Kick FC.
