Amorim willing to meet Rashford drift head on

Ruben Amorim Ruben Amorim

As the new head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim faced intense scrutiny after dropping Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from both the squad and the travelling party.

With the game against Manchester City nearing its end and the score tied, Amad Diallo won a penalty for Bruno Fernandes to equalize, then scored a brilliant winner less than two minutes later.

Amorim was asked if United deserved their first win at Etihad Stadium since 2021, and he said, "I think so... We did a great job.

We believed a lot. It was different to [the defeat at] Arsenal." He praised Amad's form, noting, "Amad is in a good moment," but didn't elaborate on past mistakes. The focus shifted to the players who weren’t even there.
