Ancelotti's first game as Brazil boss 'special' despite Ecuador draw

Carlo Ancelotti had an emotional first game as Brazil's coach. The match ended in a 0-0 draw against Ecuador. It was a lackluster South American World Cup qualifier.

Ancelotti, 65, took over the Selecao in late May. He left Real Madrid to manage the team.

Brazil struggled to break through Ecuador's strong defense. Flamengo midfielder Gerson nearly scored in Guayaquil. Ecuador's best chance came from John Yeboah’s header, which went over the bar.

Brazil pushed for a goal but couldn't find one. Goalkeeper Gonzalo Valle made a great save from Casemiro's shot. The hosts held on for a point.

"My first match with a national team felt special," Ancelotti said. He has coached over 1,800 club matches but found this one unique.

He expressed happiness about his reception and working with the CBF. "It is a gift to be here," he added.

The result puts Brazil in fourth place with 22 points after 15 matches. Ecuador is second with 24 points, trailing Argentina by ten points.

"We have quality players," Ancelotti noted. He acknowledged limited time for improvement but sees potential growth. Brazil will host Paraguay next on June
