Carlo Ancelotti criticized Real Madrid’s performance after their 5-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana final, stating, "We did not play football."
Despite Kylian Mbappe’s early goal, Raphinha’s brace and strikes from Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, and Alejandro Balde sealed a dominant win for Barcelona. Ancelotti acknowledged poor defending, saying, "We defended badly, this hurt us in the game, they found the goals in a simple way."
Despite having a man advantage after Barcelona's goalkeeper was sent off, Madrid struggled, failing to play their intended style. "At half-time, I said that first we had to try to play football because in the first half we didn't play football," he added. Ancelotti emphasized that, though disappointed, "sometimes you have to learn from defeat."
