Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has indicated that Andre Ayew is currently not a top choice for national team selection.
The 35-year-old forward has not received a call-up since Addo returned as head coach in March 2024, despite scoring four goals in 11 starts for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre this season.
"If we need Andre Ayew, we will call him. At the moment, I see others ahead of him," Addo told JoySports in an exclusive interview.
In Ayew’s absence, his younger brother, Jordan Ayew, has been appointed as Ghana’s substantive captain.
Jordan led the Black Stars to back-to-back victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, putting Ghana at the top of Group I with 15 points and four matches remaining.
