Arsenal 0-2 Newcastle United: Isak and Gordon put Howe's men on brink of final

Newcastle United secured a commanding 2-0 win over Arsenal in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final at the Emirates Stadium.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon were the scorers, with Isak netting just before halftime and Gordon doubling the lead early in the second half. Despite early pressure from Arsenal, who hit the post through Gabriel Martinelli and missed other chances, Newcastle capitalized on a defensive error, with Isak scoring from a Murphy assist.

Gordon added another after Isak’s shot was parried by goalkeeper David Raya. Arsenal, missing key opportunities, now face a tough task in the second leg at St James’ Park on February 5. Isak’s goal marked his 50th for Newcastle, continuing his strong form with 10 goals in his last nine matches.
