Newcastle United's £150m asking price for striker Alexander Isak is expected to deter Arsenal from pursuing a transfer.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is a long-time admirer of Isak, who scored in Newcastle's 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup. However, Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is unlikely to approve such a significant outlay, which could strain the club’s finances and challenge Premier League financial regulations.
Arsenal is not in immediate danger of breaching these rules, but spending such a large sum on Isak would leave little room for future transfers. While Isak is happy at Newcastle, the club may need to secure Champions League qualification to retain him, given their financial limitations compared to wealthier rivals.
