Arsenal have not met expectations under manager Mikel Arteta, says Thierry Henry.
Arteta, 43, has improved the team since joining from Manchester City in 2019. The Gunners are now regular title challengers. However, they haven't won a trophy since the FA Cup final in 2020.
In the last three Premier League seasons, Arsenal finished second each time. This season, they were eliminated in the semi-finals of both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
Henry expressed his thoughts on the Stick to Football podcast. He said he is not disappointed but understands why people have questions about the team’s performance.
He acknowledged that it takes time for a manager to build a team. "You need at least three or four transfer windows," he explained.
Henry believes Arsenal should have won at least one cup or reached a final in three years.
Over these seasons, Arsenal averaged 82 points per year in the Premier League.
He compared them to Manchester United, who won two trophies and reached five finals recently.
"Manchester United have played in five finals," Henry noted. "Meanwhile, Arsenal haven’t reached any finals during their rebuilding."
He understands why fans expect Arsenal to compete for trophies.
