Asante Kotoko Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum attributes defeat to fatigue and loss of focus

Asante Kotoko's Head Coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, spoke after a tough loss. His team lost 3-0 to Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League. Ogum suggested fatigue and lack of focus contributed to the defeat.

Accra Lions scored through Jacob Awoutey, Gildas, Yao Sokpoli, and David Olubi Akintunde. Asante Kotoko struggled throughout the match. Coach Ogum believes physical and mental exhaustion played a role.

He stated, “They may be fatigued somehow but we are managing them well.” He emphasized that they are working hard to keep players in top shape.

Before the match, Ogum felt confident about his team's readiness. He said they looked energetic and knew what was at stake. However, he noted that things changed once the game started.

When asked about warning signs during warm-up, Ogum disagreed. He felt the players were prepared and had a good session. The issue arose from a lack of focus during the match.

Ogum explained that attacking requires awareness of defensive spaces. He believed they failed to manage these spaces properly, leading to early goals.

The second goal had a significant psychological impact on his players. “It really discouraged them,” he said. He urged them to stay composed as control shifted away from midfield.

The loss puts pressure on Asante Kotoko moving forward. They aim to bounce back in upcoming fixtures. Currently, they are winless in their last three league games and sit second place, three points behind Bibiani GoldStars.
