Asante Kotoko ends contract renewal talks with goalkeeper Frederick Asare

Asante Kotoko captain Frederick Asare is likely leaving the club soon. His contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

Asare joined Kotoko in 2022 as a free agent. He previously played for Accra Lions, helping them reach the Ghana Premier League in 2021.

His contract ends in June, and talks for renewal have stalled. The 25-year-old may leave on a free transfer next month.

Reports suggest that negotiations for his contract renewal have ended. This indicates he will likely depart from Kotoko in June.

This season, Asare has made only 15 appearances in the Premier League. He has kept seven clean sheets but conceded 12 goals.

In 2023, he received his first call-up to the Ghana senior national team. However, he has not yet debuted for the Black Stars due to limited club action.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko is looking at Bechem United's Dari Aziz Haruna as a replacement. Haruna has performed well this season with 27 league appearances. He has conceded 19 goals and kept 15 clean sheets.
