Asensio seals loan switch to Aston Villa from PSG

Aston Villa have signed three-time Champions League winner Marco Asensio on loan from Paris Saint-Germain for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

The 29-year-old midfielder becomes Unai Emery's fourth January signing, joining Marcus Rashford, Donyell Malen, and Andres Garcia at Villa Park. Asensio has won 20 major trophies, including three La Liga titles with Real Madrid, where he made 286 appearances and scored 61 goals.

After moving to PSG in 2023, he struggled for game time, featuring just 12 times in Ligue 1 this season. Villa will cover his wages, but there is no option to make the deal permanent. Asensio could debut in Villa’s FA Cup match against Tottenham or their Premier League game against Ipswich Town.
