Athletic Club’s top scorer ruled out of Barcelona Super Cup clash

Athletic Club will be without midfielder Oihan Sancet for their Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Barcelona.

Sancet sustained an ankle sprain in Athletic’s 2-1 win over Osasuna before the mid-season break.

Although there is no firm recovery timeline, reports suggest he will be sidelined until at least mid-January, missing the Copa del Rey match against UD Logrones and the Super Cup clash with Barcelona on January 8.

The 24-year-old is Athletic's top scorer this season with seven goals but will not be rushed back, with a potential return set for the match against Celta Vigo on January 18.
