Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo has backed Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in their call for an autonomous Ghana Premier League.
The two clubs have jointly demanded independence from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to improve the competition’s management.
Polo believes an external body running the league would eliminate selfish interests and help revamp its fortunes.
Speaking to GHANAsoccernet.com, he stated, "It happens all over the world, and it’s time for Kotoko and Hearts to show their power."
The call for autonomy has gained traction following the tragic death of a Kotoko fan in Nsoatre. Although the GFA, under Kurt Okraku, has considered an independent league, it has yet to implement the proposal.
