Azamati races to wind-aided 9.93secs in California

Ghana’s 100m record holder, Benjamin Azamati, had a great race in California. He won the 100m with a time of 9.93 seconds.

This result was wind-assisted at +2.9m/s, so it is not considered legal. Despite this, it marks a strong start to his outdoor season.

Azamati has also run times of 10.07 and 10.02 in his last two meets. This shows incredible improvement from last season.

His performance is similar to his form in 2022 when he set the national record of 9.90 seconds.

However, the 27-year-old will not join Ghana’s Relay Team for the 2025 World Relays. He opted out due to scheduling conflicts.
