Barcelona convinced by Manchester United target but put off by €50m price tag

Alejandro Balde Alejandro Balde

Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde impressed in the dramatic win over Benfica, marking his best form since recovering from injury.

Despite Balde's strong performances, reports suggest Barcelona plans to recruit competition or a new starter for the position next summer.

Gerard Martin, promoted from Barça Atletic, has been a temporary solution, but the club seeks a long-term option.

Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras, a 21-year-old Spanish left-back, has emerged as a top target. Carreras, previously with Manchester United, has impressed in Portugal, prompting Benfica to set a €50m asking price.

Manchester United holds a €25m buyback option but appears less likely to pursue him under Ruben Amorim.

Barcelona also considers Alex Valle, currently on loan at Celtic, but his future remains uncertain.
