Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has affirmed that Inaki Pena will remain the team's starting goalkeeper, despite the mid-season arrival of veteran Wojciech Szczesny.
Many anticipated Szczesny would step in following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, but Flick’s faith in Pena has paid off, notably during a strong performance in El Clasico.
Asked about Szczesny’s potential to play, Flick confirmed the plan to keep Pena as number one, citing his consistent performance in training.
Flick also addressed minor controversies, including Raphinha retaining the captain’s armband over Frenkie de Jong during the Las Palmas match, stating he was unaware of the situation.
Additionally, he dismissed complaints about refereeing in the same game, instead emphasizing the need for greater determination from his players moving forward.
