Bees sting United in seven-Goal thriller to ignite European dream

Brentford boosted their hopes for European qualification with a thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester United. This match took place at the Gtech Community Stadium. The victory moved Brentford to ninth in the Premier League, just one point behind Bournemouth. They have three matches left to play. Meanwhile, United suffered their 16th league defeat this season, matching their worst record since 1989/90.

Since Ruben Amorim became manager on November 11, United has only won six league matches. Only Ipswich (3), Leicester (3), and Southampton (1) have fewer wins during this time.

United took an early lead when Mason Mount scored from Alejandro Garnacho’s low cross. However, Brentford quickly equalized in a strange way. Mikkel Damsgaard's shot hit Luke Shaw and goalkeeper Altay Bayindir before going into the net.

Brentford then completed the turnaround moments later. United hesitated after Matthijs de Ligt went down injured, but referee Anthony Taylor allowed play to continue. Christian Norgaard crossed for Kevin Schade, who headed in Brentford’s second goal.

Before halftime, Brentford nearly made it 3-1, but Bayindir saved Norgaard’s header from a Damsgaard free-kick. After the break, United came out with more energy but Brentford extended their lead instead. Schade scored again with a header from Bryan Mbeumo's precise cross.

Michael Kayode then dazzled down the flank and assisted Yoane Wissa for a fourth goal. This was confirmed after a brief VAR check. Garnacho struck back with a stunning shot from outside the box to reduce the deficit.

Amad Diallo added another goal for United with a deflected shot off Sepp van den Berg. This set up a tense finish, but Brentford held on for their third straight win. Their fairytale push for Europe continues alive and well.
