The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Hon. Mohammed Issah Bataglia, spoke about the Betway Tumu Cup. He said it has given hope to the youth in Sissala land. The tournament inspires them to believe in their potential.
The one-day football event took place on Saturday, May 24, 2025. It was held at the Tumu Sports Stadium AstroTurf. Real 24 Hours won the championship after an impressive final. Eight teams participated in this competition, which followed six qualifying rounds across the constituency.
“Football in Sissala land has always been top notch,” said Hon. Bataglia. “Before, it was dying down—it felt like there was no hope.” He noted that many people tried but did not succeed.
He praised Joy Sports editor Fentuo Tahiru Fentuo and the Joy News team. He also thanked title sponsors Betway for their support. Their efforts have revitalized the sporting spirit of the region.
“Fentuo, the Joy News team, and Betway—you have uplifted our young ones,” he added. “I am sure they feel energized and believe in a brighter future.”
Hon. Bataglia attended with Sissala East Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Adamu Yakubu. Together, they enjoyed watching all participating teams showcase their talent.
Real 24 Hours received GHS5,000, medals, and a trophy for winning first place. Bujan Crocodiles finished second and earned GHS3,000. Soccer Babies placed third and were awarded GHS2,000.
The event was organized by Fentuo with support from Betway and Peeva Beverages. The goal was to promote grassroots football in the Upper West Region.
