The Black Queens of Ghana have finished their nine-day training tour in Dakar, Senegal. They lost 1-0 to the Teranga Lionesses in their last match. This game was part of their preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Despite the loss, the team gained valuable experience from two friendlies during camp. They will return home to refine their tactics before the tournament. Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his staff learned about the team's match fitness and tactical understanding.
In their first leg, Ghana played with ten players after Anaesthesia Achiaa was sent off in the 63rd minute. However, they won the opening game 1-0 on Saturday. Evelyn Badu scored with a header from a great pass by Princess Marfo.
Coach Björkegren believes the Black Queens are progressing well in their preparations. He noted that many players had not played together before, which can be challenging. “Football is all about natural relations,” he explained.
The rescheduled WAFCON tournament will take place in Morocco from July 5–26, 2025.
