Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has hailed his team’s performance as “amazing” despite their 1-0 defeat to Morocco in an international friendly on Friday.
The match, part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), saw the Black Queens put up a resilient display before conceding a late injury-time goal.
Sakina Ouzraoui’s strike secured victory for Morocco after Ghana failed to clear a loose ball. The Black Queens created several chances, with Sharifatu Sumaila and Doris Boaduwaa coming close, but lacked the finishing touch.
Björkegren expressed pride in his players, highlighting their defensive discipline despite limited training sessions.
Despite the defeat, the Swedish coach remains optimistic as Ghana continues preparations for the Women’s AFCON, scheduled for July.
