Herbert Mensah, former board chairman of Asante Kotoko and current Rugby Africa president, has criticized the management of Ghanaian football, attributing the Black Stars' recent decline to long-standing systemic issues.
His remarks follow Ghana's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 21 years.
Mensah expressed frustration with the reactive approach to problems in Ghanaian football, pointing to a past instance where Kotoko struggled to field a full team, resulting in points deductions.
He argued that the decline of the Black Stars predates the current Ghana Football Association (GFA) leadership, blaming the neglect of grassroots development and a disjointed football system.
He called for structural reforms, emphasizing the importance of a cohesive development plan for domestic leagues and youth football.
