Simone Inzaghi is the new head coach of Al Hilal. The Saudi Pro League club confirmed this on Wednesday. He signed a two-year contract.
Inzaghi, 51, recently left Inter Milan. This followed their 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Reports say Al Hilal offered him over €20 million ($22.74 million) per season.
"The Italian genius is here," the club announced on social media. Inzaghi previously led Inter to the Serie A title last year. He was also in charge during their loss to Manchester City in the 2023 Champions League final.
This season, Inter finished second in Serie A, just one point behind Napoli. They were close to a treble but lost to AC Milan in the Italian Cup semifinals in April. Earlier, they were defeated by Milan in the Italian Super Cup final held in Saudi Arabia.
Inzaghi's first challenge at Al Hilal will be at the FIFA Club World Cup. The team will play against Real Madrid on June 18 at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.
Al Hilal welcomed Inzaghi with a post that read: "The Italian genius is here."
