Sir Mark Cavendish, the British cycling legend, will receive the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Retiring this year at 39, Cavendish holds the record for 35 Tour de France stage wins, with his last victory in July.

Over his 20-year career, he secured 165 professional race wins, including the 2011 road world title, 17 Giro d'Italia stages, and three Vuelta a España stages.

On the track, he earned omnium silver at the 2016 Olympics and was a three-time madison world champion. Reflecting on his career, Cavendish expressed pride in his achievements and the honor of being recognized among cycling’s greats.
